Okay sociologists,
How do you demonstrate your experience with and commitment to diversity in the academic environment?

Yeah...I know. This might mean something to somebody, but I read it as "insert BS here". Kind of like you have to say "I'm committed to teaching students with diverse learning styles". What in the hell does that mean? I just try to keep my students from falling asleep!

Not to be snotty (okay, to be a little snotty), but if you've had experience with and have a commitment to diversity in the academic environment, this isn't much of a mystery. Talk about your committee work that involves pressing for and/or implementing policy/process/facility changes, your work with minority student groups, and/or, yes, seriously addressing diversity in your classroom, for a few examples.
