Job Description:
Assistant/Associate Positions in Race/Ethnicity. The Sociology Department at the University of Pittsburgh seeks to fill two positions in Race/Ethnicity, pending budgetary approval. For one of the positions, we are looking for a scholar of U.S. race relations. The other position is more broadly defined to include international race/ethnic relations. For both positions, we are seeking colleagues whose research and teaching in the area of Race/Ethnicity will complement existing departmental emphases in Social Movements and/or Politics and Culture. We will accept applications at the assistant and associate levels for both positions. One position will be tenure-track at the Assistant Professor level and will begin in Fall 2010. The other position can be filled at either a tenure-track Assistant or a tenured Associate Professor level and will begin Fall 2010 or the following year. Both appointments require demonstrable excellence and promise in research and teaching.
