Research Assistant / Research Associate (part-time 0.50 FTE)

Required to work on the project "Support and Opposition to Migration. A cross national comparison of the politicization of migration (SOM)", funded by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission. The consortium, coordinated by the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland), includes seven research teams from six European countries, and will study seven countries (Austria, Belgium, Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland).
You will work on various tasks related to the research process and scientific management of the project and, in particular, the case study of Spain that is led by Dr. Morales, and contribute to data analysis and publications.
With a degree in any of the social sciences, (preferably Politics and/or Sociology), proven ability of data management and analysis, knowledge and experience of working with SPSS or equivalent statistical packages, a proven ability to write up research findings, and a good working knowledge of Spanish. This post is part-time (50% fte) and tenable from October 2009 for 36 months.
Appointment at Grade 6 will be made for those with the above and a PhD or one near completion.
Salary
£24,152 - £27,998 / £28,839 - £30,595 p.a. (pro-rata 0.50 FTE) depending on qualifcations and experience
