i have a friend who used to work there and I'm pretty sure ze had a 3/3 teaching load.
My friend subsequently left academia because of the horrible experience ze had working in their sociology department.

anony, can you elaborate on your friend's experience? What didn't they like about the department? I'm hard pressed to imagine a department so troubled it would make someone leave academia.

i'm not entirely sure because this happened before I met my friend, but my friend's complaints seem to center on:
1. the disorganization of the department/bureaucracy of the school 2. too many sociology students who were crim specialists that were trying to get into law enforcement, so were totally disinterested in actual sociology 3. the department often scheduled meetings at nights/dinner/weekends, and my friend has a family ze wanted to spent time with more than never. 4. Micromanagement of teaching content and no flexibility over teaching times.

Apparently they are trying to discourage criminologists from applying for the position, I already know 2 people who have received rejection letters stating that they will not be considered because they do not have a degree in Sociology (it is a criminology degree from a sociology department) go figure. Not sure if this is the result of an office staff determined to narrow the list down, or if they really don't want someone with a specialization in criminology (wasn't that in the ad).
