Job Description:
The Minnesota Population Center (MPC) has an opening for a post-doctoral researcher to assist in the expansion and improvement of two large databases of United States census and survey data: IPUMS-USA (http://usa.ipums.org/) and IPUMS-CPS (http://cps.ipums.org/). Responsibilities
The post-doctoral associate will work as a member of the IPUMS-USA research project team and will play a lead role in the expansion of IPUMS-CPS. The IPUMS-CPS expansion involves the addition of more than 400 new datasets and the introduction of longitudinal analysis capabilities. The post-doctoral associate’s responsibilities will include documenting and integrating Current Population Survey data from 1978 to the present, developing strategies for linking individuals across CPS samples, and collaborating with graduate research assistants and other staff. Depending on project needs, similar responsibilities may evolve on IPUMS-USA, focusing on data from the decennial census and the American Community Survey.
MPC post-doctoral associates are expected to participate in the intellectual life of the center, present research at workshops and scholarly conferences, and publish related research in academic journals. Additionally, as a professional in training, the post-doctoral associate is expected to pursue at least one research project using data from IPUMS-USA or IPUMS-CPS.
MPC post-doctoral appointments are for one year with renewal possible up to total of three years, dependent upon funding and performance.
