the wiki says they have scheduled interviews- does anyone know which position they have scheduled interviews for? They were hiring in 3 different areas I believe.

The department chair has sent out interview schedules via email for all three positions.

Interviews have not been scheduled at BU. The posting suggesting otherwise is not accurate.

Can you anyone confirm that this is true about interview schedules even though the application deadline is November 1st? I cannot imagine them scheduling interviews when they are still accepting applications till the end of the month.

I have no real idea... but it's probably not true that they are already scheduling interviews if the deadline isn't till the end of the month. I feel that these status of search boards are particularly (and almost maliciously) inaccurate. But, again, I have no evidence either way.

People should know that it is common for departments to call interviews BEFORE their official deadline. It may not be fair, but they do it. It happened to me twice [not this year]. SO get those apps in as soon as possible!

And people have to keep in mind that there has been a lot of misinformation spread through this site and wiki.
Unless the wiki has two people confirming something with IPs from different cities, I would treat all information as unreliable and suspect.

I feel deflated. I worked within their deadline, and my application will not be even considered.

I feel deflated. I worked within their deadline, and my application will not be even considered. Even if they did interview one candidate before the deadline, I sincerely doubt that they scheduled interviews with all of them and not consider other applications that arrived within the deadline, as that would be a huge HR nightmare. And for all of you freaking out over the wiki, I suggest you take a look through the history of the edits to check out what is really going on. Someone at harvard posted about BU. That is the one source we have about BU. It is very likely the same person posting here, under different names. I doubt someone would come over here to "confirm" the interview but not the wiki. My advice, until you get the rejection letter, or until someone else from outside of harvard posts on the wiki about BU confirming the interview, don't freak out.

Please note, there are three Boston University jobs. The urban deadline was October 1, and people here have confirmed being called for an interview for the URBAN position.
You should NOT feel deflated about the African American studies position, as that deadline has not passed. They are separate searches, with separate deadlines, separate interviews, etc.
Before people start screaming out "LIAR!" perhaps they should check their facts.

I don't know which deadlines people are looking at, but all three positions (including urban) say they start reviewing Oct. 1st and will not accept applications after Nov. 1st. What is the point of mentioning Nov. 1st if they start setting up interviews before that date? Very unfair.
