You gotta be pretty bad if you don't get an interview at Evansville. Maybe you can be on Sarah Palin's Council of Economic Advisors.

Yes, clearly as a top 10 master's-level university the quality of their faculty is going to be quite low.

I don't know if it means anything, and in all likelihood it means nothing, just some institutional delay, but my department has just received an email requesting that this position be advertised among students on the market.
Again, it is probably just some formality or institutional snafu that they are re-sending this stuff this late, but I thought it'd be something people might be interested in hearing. They sent us the original job market ad, with the following letter:
"Dear Department Chair, The University of Evansville is currently conducting a search for an assistant professor of sociology. This is a full-time, tenure track, position beginning in August of 201 0. Our needs are for a generalist who can teach a range of sociology courses. Above all, the candidate should have significant potential to be a good teacher. Teaching experience would be highly desirable. While teaching is most important, scholarly activity is also expected. The PhD requirements should be completely met by August of 2010. We have advefiised the position in the Chronicle of Higher Education, but we would appreciate your posting the enclosed announcement in your department or communicating the availability of the position to suitable candidates. The search committee plans to begin going over the applications later this month and we will continue to accept applications until the position is filled. Thanks for your help."

Congratulations!
They're good folks. Don't get pushed around by passive aggressive semi-reitrees. The chair is a great human. You'll do well.

re: Palin and Evansville; the county and the state went for Obama.
(in addition to the school's consistent high rankings)
be informed, then speak.
