wikiw, I meant to say something similar to iiii. This whole process is so hard for everyone, that we need to remember to be our own best cheerleaders.
I also am glad that we can be glad for each other, and not let this board devolve into meanness and name calling (the way it has in econ and polisci).

They will hire an economist for this position. The salary is too high for anyone with a Ph.D. in sociology to be hired. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply for faux interviews, and I am certain they would make a good personal assistant to the economist hired.

I just gave a job talk a few weeks ago for a joint appointment and economist in the room had no idea what I was doing? they were all like.. What do you mean, I really can't understand what's going on. Please help.

In other words, you were telling a leading American intellectual about experiences from interviewing people at bars. After an hour talk outlining your plan to destroy America, he probably needed a drink and feigned ignorance. It is good he got you drunk and unable to ruin capitalism for at least one night.
