Famous last name she-star has accepted an offer at UW. The e-mail announcement went out to faculty and students today.

Why do we have to play this silly game? Why not just say: "Alice Goffman, Princeton ABD, accepted an AP position at Madison. Congrats, Alice!" Seems much more gracious than referring to her as "famous last name she-star" and gives those outside of the privileged fools who've been addicted to this board some real information.

Agreed that names are probably OK here. I think we should use names in this "hires" section only.
